The Social Events subseries contains invitations, guest lists, press releases, admit cards, working papers, memoranda, menus, and programs related to various functions hosted by the Richard M. Nixon or members of the First Family. Functions include breakfasts, luncheons, teas, and state dinners, among others. Notable events include dinner and entertainment in honor of Duke Ellington's 70th birthday, dinner for the Apollo XI astronauts, and the wedding of Tricia Nixon and Edward Finch Cox.
The Social Name Files subseries contains index cards documenting names, occupations, and contact information of guests who attended White House functions.
The Worship Services subseries contains guest lists, schedules of events, programs, and biographical information pertaining to the officiant and entertainment for various worship services held in the White House.
The Worship Service Files subseries is comprised of a card index containing names, occupations, and contact information of guests who attended the worship services.
The Activities, Programs, and Menus subseries contains finalized invitations, guest lists, menus, and programs for each dinner, luncheon, worship service, et cetera held in a given month and year.
The Menus subseries contains menus for formal events that were lettered by the Social Entertainments office and printed for placement at tables. Each menu indicates the food and alcohol served and the location and the date of the function.
The Seating Charts subseries contains diagrams of the seating arrangement for various events.
The Invitations subseries contains a miscellaneous collection of invitations produced by the Social Entertainments Office. Also included in this series are admittance cards and inserts that were included in formal invitations.
The Programs subseries contains copies of programs distributed to guests at performances.
The Cards subseries contains cards designed for a variety of purposes. The majority of this series is comprised of acknowledgment cards from President and Mrs. Nixon. These cards address certain events, such as the birth or adoption of a baby, marriage, graduation, or the attainment of an Eagle Scout award. This subseries also contains calling cards of the President and Mrs. Nixon, as well as President Nixon signature cards.
The Presidential Certificates subseries contains certificates presented to various individuals to convey thanks or to honor an occasion. There are certificates of appreciation (e.g., for service during a Presidential visit), participation (e.g. Easter Egg Roll), and commendation (e.g. law enforcement officers.) Other types commemorate a flight on Air Force One or a visit to the Western White House.
The Christmas Prints subseries contains prints of former presidents' portraits distributed to individuals from President and Mrs. Nixon at Christmas time.
The Mrs. Nixon's Recipes subseries is comprised of various recipes provided by Mrs. Nixon for distribution to the public.
The Press Releases subseries contains guests lists for certain events released to the press.
The Presidential Photographs subseries contains a variety of presidential photographs, as well as photographs of the First Lady and the First Family.
The Plaques subseries contains inscribed plaques commemorating President Nixon's stay at hotels in the District of Columbia, Texas, Illinois, and Arizona.
